Margate Main Street Project is an exercise in providing ideas to developers on the possible structural arrangements and content of use types in the commercial area and immediate surrounds.

It offers a guide as to how vacant land fronting the highway can be planned by utilising the "Sleeving the Box " concept which includes locating the bulky use type in the centre of the site and surrounding the bulky use type with finer grain type which will provide a friendlier frontage to the the main street as well as an appropriate scale to the adjoining residential developments at the rear of the site.

The plan shows how to achieve a more accessible, better connected and more legible environmnet to the user and visitor alike.

The urban design cues can provide a better outcome for Margate establishing a more identifiable and more imigeable place.
